Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to courses, lessons, cultural activities and other services offered by MAYI Mandarin House GmbH. Individual written agreements, quotations or booking conditions may take precedence where applicable.
This is an English translation of the original German Terms & Conditions (AGB). In case of any discrepancy, the German version shall prevail.
1. Registration & Booking
Registrations and bookings become binding once confirmed by MAYI Mandarin House GmbH.
Course places are subject to availability. For participants under 18, registration must be made or approved by a parent or legal guardian.
2. Private Lessons
Private lessons are arranged individually and may take place in person or online.
Lessons may be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed starting time.
Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled starting time, or missed without notice, will be charged in full.
If MAYI Mandarin House GmbH needs to cancel a lesson, an alternative appointment will be offered or the lesson will not be charged.
3. Group Courses
Group courses are booked as a complete course block for the dates stated in the course confirmation.
If a participant misses a lesson, the lesson cannot be refunded, credited or made up individually.
Withdrawal
If a participant has to withdraw from a course due to illness, a medical certificate may be required.
In the case of a qualifying withdrawal due to illness, unused lessons from the fifth lesson onwards may be credited.
No refund or credit is provided for withdrawal for other reasons.
Continuing with the Next Course
Before the end of a course block, participants will receive information about suitable follow-up courses where available.
Placement in the next level may be based on the teacher's assessment of the participant's current language level and progress.
4. Children & Teens
For participants under 18, parents or legal guardians are responsible for providing accurate contact details and any information relevant to the safe and appropriate participation of their child.
The cancellation and absence conditions for private and group lessons also apply to courses for children and teens unless otherwise stated.
Parents are responsible for ensuring that children arrive and are collected on time.
5. Cultural Activities, Workshops & Events
Registration for cultural activities, workshops and events becomes binding once confirmed.
Specific cancellation conditions may apply depending on the activity and will be communicated at the time of booking.
If MAYI Mandarin House GmbH needs to cancel or reschedule an activity, participants will be offered an alternative date where possible or a refund or credit for the activity concerned.
6. Prices & Payment
Current prices are stated on the Mandarin House website, in the course confirmation or in an individual quotation.
Invoices must be paid within the payment period stated on the invoice.
Corporate training, translation, interpreting and other customised services may be subject to separate prices and payment conditions.
7. Translation & Interpreting
Translation and interpreting services are provided on the basis of an individual quotation.
The scope of work, languages, timeframe, price and specific requirements will be agreed before the assignment begins.
Changes to the agreed scope of work may result in additional costs.
For interpreting assignments and larger projects, individual cancellation conditions may apply and will be stated in the quotation or confirmation.
8. Gift Vouchers
Mandarin House gift vouchers are valid for five years from the date of issue.
Vouchers may be used towards eligible Mandarin House courses and selected cultural experiences, subject to availability.
Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.
If the price of the selected course or experience exceeds the remaining voucher value, the difference must be paid by the recipient.
9. Course Changes & Cancellations
MAYI Mandarin House GmbH reserves the right to make reasonable changes to course schedules, locations, teaching formats or teachers where necessary.
Group courses and activities may be postponed or cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not reached.
If MAYI Mandarin House GmbH cancels a course or activity, fees already paid for services that do not take place will be refunded or credited.
10. Absences & Communication
Participants are asked to inform MAYI Mandarin House GmbH as early as possible if they are unable to attend a lesson.
An absence notification does not automatically entitle the participant to a refund, credit or replacement lesson. The applicable cancellation conditions remain unchanged.
Important organisational information may be communicated by email or other agreed communication channels.
11. Liability
Participants are responsible for their personal belongings.
MAYI Mandarin House GmbH is liable in accordance with applicable Swiss law. Participation in courses, workshops and activities is otherwise at the participant's own responsibility.
12. Data Protection
Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable Swiss data protection law and the Mandarin House Privacy Policy.
13. Individual Agreements
Separate written agreements or quotations may apply to corporate training, translation and interpreting assignments, workshops and other customised services.
Where an individual written agreement differs from these Terms & Conditions, the individual agreement takes precedence.
14. Applicable Law
Swiss law applies.
Any mandatory statutory provisions regarding jurisdiction remain unaffected.
